UA Board of Regents approves resolution of appreciation for Bruce Schultz

During its June 3 full-board meeting in Anchorage, the University of Alaska Board of Regents approved a resolution of appreciation for Bruce Schultz, who is retiring from his position as the University of Alaska Anchorage Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs after a distinguished career in leadership roles spanning three decades, including serving as Interim University of Alaska Anchorage Chancellor in 2021.

2022 UAS Faculty & Staff Excellence recognition

On Monday, May 2, UAS honored faculty at an event hosted by the Office of the Provost. Faculty Excellence Awards were presented and the designation of Faculty Emerita was bestowed on Professor Jan Straley.

Dr. Tonia Dousay has been selected as the new director for the UAA School of Education (SoE) and she will begin her role July 1.

New ACEP roles for Holdmann, Kasper

After almost 14 years, the Alaska Center for Energy and Power will undergo a leadership change. Gwen Holdmann, the founding director of ACEP, will step down on May 9. ACEP Deputy Director Jeremy Kasper will serve as interim director.

On the passing of Joe Usibelli

Joe Usibelli's contributions to Alaska and to the university have been transformational. He was not only the force behind Alaska's largest coal operation, but he and his wife Peggy Shumaker shared their success and contributed generously to the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Vivian Mork Yéilk' honored as 2022 Angayuqaq Oscar Kawagley Scholar
